Atheism – The eventual end of the world?

Religion has always been a matter people have been debating, discussing, arguing about and even fighting for. The last century or so, religion has lost more and more grounds in our society, and extremeists are the only ones are being seen as the only “religious” people in this world. There’s a wave of atheism going on in this world, capturing more and more followers. But with this revolution, what will come of this world? Where will we go with less religion? And why has it suddenly appeared lately?

It all started back in the 18th century, when The Enlightenment was going on. People gaining more information about how this world really works, means more people doubting their religion. There’s a reason why scientists was keeping it quiet about their discoveries for a long time, and it’s called religion. In the western world, it’s actually called Christianity. The fact is, that if a scientist made a discovery that contradicted the faith, belief and teachings of Christianity, you could get some serious issues. We’re talking about issues that could result in death. And worse, you’d get banned from the church before you were killed!

Now, the thing that happened in the 18th century, was that more and more scientists got the balls to actually stand up for their findings, and not just did it go well for most of them, but it was even kind of trendy to invent things. It was trendy to the edge of it being even portrayed in arts! There really hasn’t been much science in art before or after this period, but during, it was really hip. But of course, science alone didn’t abolish our faith.

When science got big, people started doing a lot of thinking for themselves. The new astrologic discoveries being made, forced the Christians to change thier view on the universe. This isn’t just spanning over the 18th century, though, but during all of the time since Jesus was born and up until today. At first, we discovered we were not alone in our solar system, but we thought we were the center of everything (of course). Then, eventually, it was changed into being the sun we all revolved around, and then we discovered how massive the universe really is. Or something like that. But that’s not the point of my text.

The point is, a lot of changes were made in the society, and they didn’t roll well with Christianity. People started doubting whether anything really was true if there had been so many things that didn’t exactly go right with what the church had taught them. This is probably the reason why churches are still to this day trying to be more and more modern and more and more “hip”, so that young people will like better to go to church and think less of it. The basic fact is, that Christianity is a bit capitalistic, though they have several branches of it.

The fact I’m trying to make, is that people have been more into science than religion these last decades, and this is causing many of us to no longer believe in God and religion, and thinking that it’s really a bit lame to be a believer. I myself have abandoned the Christianity, and is at the moment a registered Buddhist.

Now what this shows us, is really that people don’t understand what’s important with religion, and this is what I’m trying to reach out to you and explain. You see, without religion, we might have an easier time with ourselves, living in a sort of anarchistic world where you can do as you damn well please, but you will eventually become depressed from the lack of hope that there’s something more in this world. This is actually where I’m going as far as to say that atheists are stupid.

You see, aboloshing religion is one of the stupidest things you may ever do, and if you also try to encourage others to do the same, you should really be marked as a retard. I mean, for the love of God (phrase unintended), how stupid are you really if you believe this world will be better if you take away everyone’s hope of a next life and something to actually be good towards other people for? Not only are you really dumb because of this, but there’s also the fact of that you’re probably taking the Bible litterally and thinking that there’s no way that can be right. The Bible is supposed to be a guideline, not a history book. It’s more of a story book, letting you know of stories that you can relate to no matter the situation you are in, not actually go out and beat your wife or whatever is said in the Old Testament.

I’m not going to say I’m supporting all the phrases the Bible has published (“An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” is a phrase I will always disagree with, because “An eye for an eye, leaves everyone blind”), but I’m saying it was meant as a guideline, and if you turned atheist because you couldn’t see that and is now walking around, claiming to be more intelligent than your Christian friends, then bravo, you’ve successfully achieved stupidity at a level you can’t imagine.

Of course, there’s this downside to religion as well, and that is when religious people starts fighting other religious people because they don’t share the same religion or the same way of practising it or because they’ve insulted your religion in some way. To this, I have a simple saying: Don’t go out there fighting because they’re not Muslim or Christian or Norse or whatever. The fact is, that you both share the joy of having a religion to fall onto, and you shouldn’t force another religion onto someone. Of course, I believe everyone should have a belief, but more for the hope, the faith, the believing and the guidelines of it, not because I think we should all hail someone.

The bottom line is, that if we all turn into atheism and teach our children the same way, we will soon have a massive wave of suicides, because then we’ve really taken away all the hope there is in this world, making this world as bad as a fucking toilet, where everyone’s just waiting to be flushed away, without actually thinking they’ll end up somewhere.

To end this text, I’m just gonna say this quite stripped down for you: Please, please, PLEASE try to bring up your children in a religious matter! If not for your own belief, then at least for the sake of your child having something to believe in here in life. Don’t remove the Santa Claus from everyone’s heart. Too many have already lost Him.

Selfishness to a sickening degree

In our time, we are all capitalists and egomaniacs to an extent in which it is almost despicable. Everyone wants to be rewarded with material goods for all services they do, no matter how small they may be. If you do not agree with me, then keep reading and maybe you will see what I mean.

I must confess quite quickly that I am somewhat guilty of this crime myself as well, though I have improved myself from the way I used to be. I can remember people, including myself, doing quite a lot of weird stuff back at elementary school to earn a couple of bucks. Some of those things were down right harmful. But we all accepted it, because either you were the performer, doing it to gain some more money, or you were the payee, who had simply given the performer the option of gaining some money from doing something stupid to entertain the rest of us. Someone even drank a glass of water which had been used to cleanse paintbrushes.

This behavior isn't only found among kids, though. No, don't believe that for a second. We live in a world where people are being killed nearly everyday because of money. People are killing people they have no idea who are because it will pay them. And still, people are PROUD of this behavior! That may actually be the sickest part of it all. I can get that some people would kill someone else if it was to earn money when you're so broke your family is starving and you're the provider of your family, but even then only to a certain extent. Murder should always be the very last way to solve a situation.

You may now sit and think that was quite a leap of me, going from "child pranks" to murder, but really, the line isn't as long as it should be. In both situations is there someone paying someone else to do something stupid that they probably wouldn't have done if it weren't for the money.

Then there's my generation which we can in a way call the "rewarded generation". Someone recently made it clear to me, that we were far from as innocent as I had believed up until then. There isn't a long time since we had a fundraiser for children with cancer, where there really weren't anyone showing up before they were offered a day off. Then there were suddenly 90% of all the ones asked showing up. This was quite a wake up call to me. What is really going on with the world today? Are we really so selfish that we won't do anything we know to be good unless it rewards us somehow?
